Month of New Beginnings
I had the good fortune of attending the Apostolic Fellowship International meeting that took place in Bogota, Colombia from August 24-27. It was a glorious event incorporating two meetings one—the pastoral conference and the apostolic consultation. The former focused on ‘Transformation’ while the second focused on the ‘Future of the Church in the 3rd Millennium’. The main messages coming from the meetings included:
a) The church of Jesus Christ in these times must be preoccupied with establishing the kingdom of God on earth as our major preparation for the Lord’s second coming;
b) The above would require to closely align with the Holy Spirit as we move beyond the church to all the world—to seek and save the lost in prisons, poverty, hopelessness and drugs etc;
c) Holiness—which in essence is consecration to the Lord (Rom. 12.1)-is the essential attribute for mobilizing young people and all others who are presently outside of Christ and the church. We need to strategize on bringing young people into the church…the reward is great if we would try. (This sort of repeats the prophecy released earlier in the year by our General Overseer at the Annual Thanksgiving service).
d) All members of the church are to be mobilized for the advancement of God’s kingdom. It is instructive that the hosting church in Bogota, Tabernacle of Faith had just concluded the 40 days of Purpose driven life book by Ruck Warren (the book has 40 chapters) which was already distributed to all National Coordinators (ask your SRC if you have not received yours).
e) Restoration of the five-fold offices of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers is a sine qua non for advancing the course of Christ in our generation.
f) The greatest obstacle to revival today is disunity in the body of Christ. This manifests at all levels—even within the same denominations and the same church. Church leaders must seek to restore the leadership of Christ in His body.
g) The paper on holiness given at the conference is available on our website for anyone interested. It might bless you. Other papers can be found on the AFI website—www.afint.org. The most important include the ones on:
Our brethren in Cyprus also send greetings to us all. This is one part of the European mainland mission that has not had the opportunity of fellowshipping with others. It is a church that is doing well.
You are much appreciated for your labor of love. May the Lord grant you His peace, victory and favor in this last four months of the year in Jesus’ Mighty Name.
We pray and hope that this month would indeed be a month of Open Doors and great opportunities for us all In Jesus’ mighty Name.
Yours in His service.
