Welcome to the last but one month to this glorious year’s end. The Lord promised to cause us to celebrate this year. So, if your own celebration has not come yet, it only means there are only these last two months left. We however, have a clue as to what little we might need to do on our side.
The Lord had said that we should pray until our joy be full. Jn. 14.26. However, He also said that only if we bear fruits worthy of the Kingdom would ALL our prayers be answered. This may be the missing key for us all to give serious consideration this month.
For two days last month the leadership of this mission was invited to the mountain –top by the Almighty Himself. He made it clear to us that He is a God that dwells in a high place. As a result He always calls selected people to a higher plane and higher life.
And when He calls such people, He calls them for revelation, instruction and empowerment.
For us in Europe Mainland then this is our month of Upward Call.
There might be no better time for such a divine upliftment in our vision and anointing.
Our continent is faced with unprecendented economic, social and political challenges – most of which have defied all the conventional solutions. It is clear that the church must provide the much needed answer. But this must be a church that is well aware of her birth-rights, mission and is anointed with power, all the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit and the fruit of the same.
It is therefore the month to put our house in order—place the Holy Spirit back to where the Lord located Him –in the driving seat of our personal lives, families and churches across this great continent.
The Lord enlightened us that we must completely reverse our tactics to evangelization if we are to win the people of the land. This becomes necessary as the Lord made us to realize that other missions might do without the people of the land, but we at the European Mainland cannot. In any case, there are too few Africans or Nigerians in these lands. Most of them prefer to be in nations where they do not need to learn a new language, which is a must for those who would live and work as missionaries on the Mainland.
First, we must bless the people—this can only reflect practical blessings, especially of a non-religious nature (food to the hungry, drink for the thirsty, encouraging the sick and imprisoned, clothing the naked, help to the stranger, cleaning the community garbage, helping outcasts and the rebellious to find their minds again, helping the weak etc…in the manner the Lord described so graphically in Matthew 24. 35-36)
Second, we must eat with them—build sufficient confidence and closeness that they would dine with us…
Third, we must heal their sicknesses and diseases— this is the work of the Holy Spirit…as we give Him prominence in our lives and ministry and not rely on our own cunningness (which we atimes referred to as ‘wisdom’-but unfortunately it is not the type approved by heaven, James 3. 14-15).
Finally, we preach the gospel to them—simply point them to the One who is actually doing all of the good work.
This is exactly how the Lord put it when He spoke to His disciples in Luke 10.5-9. Unfortunately, the church reversed the order. We start with preaching, we then make an effort to heal their sick and only when they have accepted the gospel, do we contemplate eating with them and blessing them.
So, as an individual ask yourself –the first question that you need to give very serious consideration this month is that as this year is running to an end, how can I bless the people in my work place, community, or even church?
Pastors should engage the question—how can we bless the people of our community. Blessing them would have to be in practical, non-religious ways as noted above…this is the best way to prepare ourselves for the soon-coming Christmas and New Year festivities that are just around the corner.
May the Lord make this month one of Upward call for us all in Jesus’ Mighty Name.
